Doug was born and raised in South Dakota. He has always had a keen interest in the natural world and science. Birding is his favorite hobby, followed by photography, but Doug has many other interests that range to just about everything that is alive or fossilized. He has a degree in biology from Black Hills State University. Currently, Doug works for the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks in the Wildlife Diversity Program. When he is not busy there, he's out in the field exploring and photographing nature. Doug's fascination with nature has guided his education and experiences for many years. He hope that others will enjoy his stories and photography.
