Discover Minnesota's Favorite Destinations with McGregor Community Education

It's always a joy to travel, savor exotic flavors and try new experiences with friends. Beginning in Fall of 2008, weekend motor coach tours to fun and exciting destinations of the Midwest will be offered through McGregor Community Education. Camaraderie, historic sights, picturesque locations, fun activities and a bit of education with a distinctive blend of unique shopping, dining and lodging experiences combine for a perfectly balanced, FUN-FILLED adventure.

Our first event will be a weekend tour of the historic cities of Red Wing and Wabasha. We’ll visit the famous Pottery Place Historic Center Museum with its many specialty shops and antiques celebrating Red Wing Pottery; attend opening weekend at the Jon Hassler Theater for the comedy “Don’t Hug Me!”; tour the National Eagle Center in Wabasha and see Bald Eagles up close; tour the Mississippi River Valley where we’re likely to see hundreds of Bald Eagles and thousands of Tundra Swans; and we’ll enjoy lunch at ‘Slippery’s’ (Yes!, the one made famous in the Grumpy Old Men movies). We’ll dine at the Historic Anderson House in Wabasha. A true step back into yesterday, most of the furniture dates back to its 1856 opening. This is not only Minnesota's oldest operating Bed and Breakfast, but the oldest West of the Mississippi!

Join us as we journey along the majestic Mississippi River on an outing that's fun for the entire family .

Don’t Hug Me
by Phil Olson

Don’t Hug Me takes place in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota. It’s the coldest day of the year and cantankerous bar owner, Gunner Johnson, wants to sell the business and move to Florida. Clara, his wife and former Winter Carnival Bunyan Queen, wants to stay. Bernice Lundstrom, the pretty waitress, wants to pursue a singing career. Her fiance, Kanute Gunderson, wants her to stay home. It’s a battle of wills, and when a fast-talking salesman, Aarvid Gisselsen, promises to bring romance into their lives through the ‘magic’ of karaoke, all heck breaks loose!

For Antiques, Gift Shops, Eateries and Pottery Museum!

There's always something going on at Pottery Place Historic Center in Red Wing! With Pottery Museum, specialty shops, antiques and eateries there is something for everyone! Spend an hour or spend the day, you're sure to enjoy all there is to do at Minnesota's premier destination for antiques and other unique wares from around the world.

For a unique shopping destination that's fun for the whole family, visit us today at Pottery Place Historic Center in picturesque Red Wing along the majestic Mississippi River.

The Historic Anderson House Bed and Breakfast located in Mississippi River town, Wabasha Minnesota,  is a true step back into yesterday.   Most of the furniture dates back to the 1856 opening, making this Minnesota's oldest operating Bed and Breakfast, and West of the Mississippi!
